Yoga for Beginners - 6 Week Course

000003.jpg

A six week beginner course for anyone new to yoga or looking to brush up on skills and confidence.

Explore the practice as part of a small relaxed cohort, with plenty of time to ask questions, delve deeper into a specific pose or sequence and build up confidence, strength and flexibility leaving you ready to join in with general vinyasa flow classes.

The course will explore:
Asana practice - Standing postures, seated postures, forward bends, back bends and twists, arm balancing and inversions.
Pranayama practice - breath control and manipulation including calming and cooling breath and energising breath work
Meditation - techniques to focus and still your mind.

The course will identify, incorporate and respond to individual participants' needs and interest.

There's so many reasons to develop a yoga practice: physical benefits like increased strength and flexibility, mental and emotional benefits - connecting deeply to yourself, increased resilience, peace and happiness; and lifestyle benefits - increased awareness of your body, self and your choices in this world. Whatever brings you - yoga and this course will meet you there.

As a teacher I love working with a diverse group of people, and my classes are resolutely mixed level and open. I particularly love working with folks who are new to or rediscovering a yoga practice and creating an open, informal and accessible space to encounter yoga together.

"I started attending Anna’s classes after several years away from yoga and was apprehensive that, by now in my late 50s and very out of practice, I would struggle to find my “place”. I needn’t have worried; Anna is a gifted, inclusive teacher who unfailingly emphasises the importance of valuing our own personal experiences of each class, as well as our own wider yoga journeys. She gives clear explanations at every stage and suggests appropriate alternatives for those who prefer more or less challenge. I’ve had great yoga teachers before, but Anna’s passion and commitment make her special, and her lessons are underpinned by a deep knowledge of the philosophy of yoga, which she shares with learners in a truly accessible and open-hearted way. I love Anna’s originality – rooftop yoga, yoga for climbers! – and her drive to grow a community of yoga learners of all levels. It has meant a great deal to me to re-engage with my yoga practice and it has restored to me a certain type of calm, joy and physical confidence that had been missing from my life for just a bit too long." - Linda
